Below is an excerpt from the book:

Rippling currents meander gently,
transporting the lucid Jordan River
to a destination unknown.
Lofty clouds partially conceal
the sun’s diffused rays.
Along the bank, bursts of
yellow wildflowers interpose
the foliage’s emerald carpet.
The silence is broken by
boisterous proclamations
hailing from John the Baptist.
Lengthy tangled hair and a
garb constructed of wild
animal pelts, he hardly
appears to be a spiritual
mentor, and yet he is chosen
by God to steer the Israelites
toward repentance, preparing
them for the coming Messiah.
John is overwhelmed when
he sees Jesus approach for
he recognizes Him to be
the prophesied Savior.
The commencement of
baptism for Jesus is not
meant for contrition; rather
it is a symbolic launch
into obedient servanthood.
As Jesus rises above
the swirling water, a
thunderous voice from
heaven prevails upon
the astonished spectators.
God’s incredible approval
showers esteemed love
and delight upon His Son and
marks Jesus’ divine identity.
We, too, can be launched
into obedient spiritual service.
Through repentance and
commitment we can begin
a marvelous journey with
our Messiah in control.

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. (Mark 1:9 NIV)
